[en] When you install the on-premise Control Center, an error message appears: Error occurred while trying to create virtual directory EPM! Detailed error description: 1168:

[en] When you click OK, another error message appears: Error occurred while trying to set Metadata!

[en] Solution

[en] To resolve the issue, add the Default Web Site in Internet Information Services (IIS):

  1. [en] Uninstall Control Center if it is already installed or partially installed.

  2. [en] Open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.

  3. [en] Expand your computer, then right-click Sites and click Add Website.

  4. [en] The Add Website window opens. In the Site name edit field, enter Default Web Site. In the Physical path edit field, enter %SystemDrive%\inetpub\wwwroot, then click OK.

  5. [en] Open your file explorer and navigate to c:\inetpub\wwwroot\. Verify that files iistart.htm and iistart.png files exist.

  6. [en] Restart IIS.

[en] You should now be able to install Control Center without the error.
