DETAILS

LLM designer uses different names for native printer fonts than NiceLabel Designer. The Converter must remap all original font names into names that NiceLabel supports. The Converter uses a font mapping table that does not include mappings for all native fonts yet. The future updates of the Conversion Service will include additional font mappings.

Note

For example, the mapping table configures the font pairs like this: the Zebra native font Scalable in LLM will be converted into ZEBRA 0 in NiceLabel, or Intermec native font Swiss Bold 20 will be converted to Intermec Swiss Bold.

As a result, the font used on the original label template was not mapped to a proper NiceLabel font. When you open the converted label in NiceLabel Designer, the text objects will be formatted in the Arial Truetype font instead of the printer's native fonts.

Danger

The converted label template will print differently than the original template.

There are two reasons for this error message:

  1. The printer font is really not mapped.

  2. The printer driver is not mapped correctly. When the incorrect driver is used on the converted label, the font mapping cannot work. If the report displays an error about missing printer driver for the same label, that is the root cause of the problem.

RESOLUTION

WHEN THE PRINTER IS MAPPED CORRECTLY

  1. Open the label template for editing in NiceLabel Designer.

  2. Reformat the Text objects to use the appropriate native font.

    1. Select the Text object on the label.

    2. In Home ribbon tab, click the font drop-down.

    3. Change Arial Truetype to the appropriate native printer font. You can identify native printer fonts by the printer icon in front of their names.

      Note

NiceLabel Designer gets a list of native printer fonts from the printer driver. It is imperative that you select the correct printer drivers in your label template.

WHEN THE PRINTER IS NOT MAPPED

  1. When the incorrect printer is used on the label, the font mapping cannot work.

  2. Submit your ZIP file again making sure to enable the Override printer mapping option.

  3. Define the NiceLabel printer driver that you want to use with your label templates. You must provide the name of the original printer driver and the name of the NiceLabel printer driver in a syntax like this:

    Loftware Zebra ZPLII=ZEBRA ZM600-200dpi ZPL

This will tell the Conversion Service to replace all "Loftware Zebra ZPLII" printers in LLM labels with "ZEBRA ZM600-200dpi ZPL" NiceLabel printer driver in the converted labels.

    Tip

Make sure to have the printer driver "ZEBRA ZM600-200dpi ZPL" installed on your computer. You can download NiceLabel printer drivers here.
