This list contains features that cannot be converted automatically and require manual rework.
Due to the technical differences between the products not all functionality can be mapped 1:1 in NiceLabel. The features listed here require you to redesign them in NiceLabel Designer.
Table 1. Unsupported features
Issue |
Description |
---|---|
Printer families |
|
Barcodes |
NoteThe existing barcode objects will be converted into Code128 barcode type and placed in the same location in the label template. |
JavaScript |
The existing scripts in JavaScript will not work directly in NiceLabel. You will have to convert scripts from JavaScript into VBScript or Python code. TipThe Conversion Service will export all scripts from the original labels to make your job a little easier. You can find the scripts inside the HTML report as well as in the text files in the folder with converted labels. |
Form variables |
The Conversion Service does not support the variables that are defined in on-demand print form. The variables are still referenced in the formulas/functions in the converted label template, but their definition is missing. You will have to create these variables manually and make sure to use exactly the same name as in the original label. |
Printer settings |
The Label Options configured for the original labels are not migrated in the converted labels. NoteThese options include settings such as print speed, darkness, label cut options, etc. |
RFID |
RFID configuration is not converted. You will have to reconfigure RFID from scratch in the converted labels. TipAlso, see this topic. |
Some printer models |
While NiceLabel supports many printer models from different manufacturers, it can happen that the particular printer model that you use in your label templates is not supported. In many cases, the printer model is compatible with some other model of the same manufacturer. Try to use some generic printer driver of the same manufacturer. NoteDuring the migration, the converted label will retain the original printer name. When you open the converted label in NiceLabel Designer for the first time after the conversion, you will have to choose the appropriate replacement printer driver. TipAlso, see this topic. |
Some printer native fonts are not mapped in the converted labels |
NiceLabel Designer uses different naming conventions for the printer native (built-in) fonts than LLM. The Conversion Service uses a mapping table to find compatible font names for the converted labels. However, not all fonts have the mapping defined yet. The fonts that are not mapped will be converted into Arial TrueType font. TipAlso, see this topic. |

Table 2. Known issues
Jira id |
Issue |

4585 |
No support for databases that require credentials |
4586 |
No support for labels that use dynamic variables (that can be used through multiple labels) |
4619 |
No support for Serial and Database-Serial data sources |
6103 |
The converted label does not contain the CSV database data sources from the original label |
6334 |
Converter creates function names that cannot be used in the Python script (characters that are not allowed in the names of variables in Python) |
6338 |
Wrong output date format of a variable that is then used in the MH10.8.2 function |
6360 |
Data identifiers for "Supplier", "Serial Number", "Quantity" and other fields are added to text objects but should only be included in barcodes |
6843 |
The Converter tries to convert an LWL file that uses a different file extension and fails |
6850 |
The error message "The printer might not be mapped correctly" is an incorrect conclusion in the conversion log |
6854 |
The variables in the converted label contain unrelated values in the Description fields |
6855 |
Asian text content is not converted correctly |
6856 |
The data source on the converted label is incorrectly defined with the "fixed length" property |
6864 |
No support for stacked and duplex printing |
6936 |
The Converter does not report the font-mapping problems for all affected Text objects |
6940 |
The converted label has all text objects formatted in Arial font even if the mapping of native fonts exists |
6980 |
Under specific circumstances, the Converter tool reports an error "Out of memory" and stops with the conversion |
6999 |
LPS family drivers do not map to Windows drivers during the conversion (e.g. Zebra ZPLII does not have a matching mapped Windows driver in NiceLabel) |
