On rare occasions (for example, if the latest driver version has a bug), you may want to downgrade your newly installed driver on your servers and clients.

The downgrade and upgrade procedures differ because Windows doesn't automatically change driver versions during downgrades. Before you install an older version, remove your currently installed driver.

On the server

  1. Run Prninst with the downgraded version.

  2. Manually remove your currently installed 32-bit driver. In Print Management, go to Drivers, right-click the driver you want to downgrade, and click Remove Driver Package....

  3. Add 32-bit driver with the older version.

On the client

  1. Go to Device Manager > Print queues and uninstall all printers using the driver you want to downgrade.

  3. In the client's file explorer go to your shared printer location on your server. Double-click the printer.
