Defining default printer settings for all users (including network users)

Problem

When you use computers as printer servers, you want the same printer settings (like speed, darkness, ribbon use, etc.) to apply to all printer server users and users printing on shared printers from their computers.

Two locations in your printer driver control your default printer driver settings.

Solution

To change printer driver settings for the user currently logged in:

  1. Open Start > Settings > Printers & Scanners.

  2. Click your printer, then click Manage.

  3. Click Printing Preferences.

  4. Change your settings.

To change printer driver defaults for all users including network users connecting to shared printers:

  1. Open Start > Settings > Printers & Scanners.

  2. Click your printer, then click Manage.

  3. Click Printer properties.

  4. Go to the Advanced tab.

  5. Click Printing Defaults.

  6. Change your settings.

You can also hard-code your printer settings inside label templates. Wherever you open hard-coded label templates, the printer driver on your computer uses the settings hard-coded in your label template.

To apply your changes, restart the NiceLabel application. If you don't restart, NiceLabel continues to use your cached printer driver settings and you will not see your changes.
